Remote wilderness and legendary predators

Savuti is one of Botswana’s most remote and iconic safari regions, located in the heart of Chobe National Park. Covering approximately 5,000 km², this untamed landscape is shaped by dramatic contrasts: vast open plains, dense woodland and the ever-changing Savuti Marsh, which floods and dries according to natural cycles.

For travellers who enjoy adventurous safaris, Savuti is a true highlight. It is particularly popular among experienced self-drive travellers, thanks to its wild atmosphere and well-positioned campsites that place you deep in the bush. Game drives reveal an impressive diversity of wildlife, including elephants, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and large pods of hippos gathering around scarce water sources.

Savuti is best known for its predators. Lions dominate this region, moving confidently across the plains and dry riverbeds. The area gained international recognition through the famous Savuti Marsh Pride, known for their extraordinary adaptability and bold hunting behaviour in one of Africa’s most challenging environments.

Reaching Savuti is part of the experience. Unlike more easily accessible areas such as Moremi Game Reserve or the Chobe Riverfront, Savuti requires a true overland safari through remote terrain or a more expensive charter flight. This relative isolation keeps visitor numbers low and preserves the raw, untouched character of the region.

Savuti is not about luxury or predictability. It is about distance, dust and discovery a destination for travellers who seek Botswana at its wildest and most authentic.
